Clubs

We are pleased to offer our Mill Creek Middle students the following after-school clubs.

Do Good Club
Sponsor: TBD

Mill Creek’s Do Good Service Club helps others. We plan and execute service projects for the school and community. Last year we: made dinner for Project Echo; organized and set up Winter Wonderland; organized a coat drive for One Warm Coat and collected over 250 pieces for warm clothing for those without; organized a drive and delivered materials to CAWL animal shelter providing them with toys, beds and food; and made and delivered cookies to the residents at Asbury. What would you like to do for the school or community?

Drama Club
Sponsor: Lori Sikorski

Don’t let the name fool you, this group does more than just meet once a week in a club environment. The MCMS Drama Club continues to bring the school, as well as the community, some amazing performances in the form of plays and musicals. This year we will be doing the brand new Broadway Hit – The Addams Family.

We meet on Wednesdays after school until 5:00 p.m. and as we get closer to the date the curtain rises, we will meet several more days a week. You do not need any previous experience in singing or acting. We have roles for everyone to include the cast, stage crew, props, lighting and sound and publicity. We take a couple group trips to the Sunday Matinee’s at PHS, have fun and become a team that forms friendships that continue outside of the stage. Stop by the main office and pick up a fact sheet for this years MCMS Drama Club. If you are interested, we will have our first meeting in September.

Green Team
Sponsor: Ms. Toohey

This club is perfect for students who have an interest in the environment, recycling, gardening & much more! We meet once a week from 3:20 - 4:45 p.m. Please have your parent/guardian complete a permission slip (permission slips are also available in the front office).

LEGO Robotics
Sponsor: Mr. Reed

This club is open to all students who are interested in learning how to program a robot to perform certain missions, who are dedicated to hard work and perseverance, who are committed to the time and effort it takes to be successful, and who can work collaboratively towards a common goal. Please be aware that there is a time commitment of staying after school twice a month and a competition that takes place on a Saturday in April at CSM LaPlata.

MathCounts
Sponsor: Ms. Gregory

MathCounts provides engaging math programs for U.S. middle school students of all ability levels to build confidence and improve attitudes towards math and problem solving. MathCounts provides students the opportunity to compete in live, in-person math contests against and alongside their peers.

National Junior Honor Society (NJHS)
Sponsor: TBD

The NJHS elevates a school’s commitment to the values of scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. Applications will be passed out to eligible students after 2nd Quarter Marking Period Report Cards are released yearly. Eligible students consist of any 7th or 8th grade student with a 3.5 GPA or higher. Inducted members are required to complete service hours and be in attendance at meetings.

Student Government Association (SGA)
Sponsor: TBD

Mill Creek’s SGA is an inclusive organization that serves as the voice of the student body at Mill Creek. We attend county and state student government assemblies that focus on citizenship, leadership, public speaking, parliamentary procedure, community service and advocacy. We plan school initiatives such as Fall Festival and Mini Relay for Life, and attend three Calvert Association of Student Council (CASC) meetings a year to network and learn from other student leaders. We work hard and have fun!
(Any student can join if they maintain a 2.0 GPA and are not suspended from school)
